Hole in the ground

The builder's holidays are nearly over and work has finally started on the back lawn. They are digging out 60cm of rubble and will build a water sump in the middle of the garden for drainage purposes. All rainwater from the garden and rooves will go there and eventually dissipate into the substrate as I understand it.

The grass has been watered regularly over the past 6 weeks and is thriving. Unfortuantely for the hedge, some of the saplings did not survive. This does not seem to have anything to do with my watering. Lots of other houses on the street have the same problem. Have to get on to them about it.

First grass

The first grass has been rolled out at the front and side of the house. Will need lots of watering the first weeks, especially now in the middle of summer. The grass comes from Gräscenter AB and is known as Common Meadow Grass (Ängsgröe).

The instructions that we got say to fertilise the lawn two to three times a year with an NPK 20-3-9 or 23-3-6 combination during April/May, June and August.

Hedge

Today we got our hedge planted. It is an Alpine Currant (Måbär). Apparently it can grow to 2m high or more. At the moment it is just 20cm.
